Polyphasic Sleep Experiment And Going Laptop Free

Since my laptop is being repaired, I am laptop free for a while. I am also thinking about trying out polyphasic sleep. Share your experiences if you tried it.

Alright, so I’m turning in my laptop. Which means for the next 3-4 days, I’ll only have my phone which is an experiment I’ve always been afraid of but also looked forward to. Because not having a laptop would actually be super convenient. At the same time, there are still too many tasks which a) I can’t really do on my phone; and b) I’m so much faster writing and organizing stuff for my laptop.

Have you ever gone laptop free?

So it’s going to be an interesting experiment and if someone has ideas on how to do this, if someone has gone laptop free or given away their laptop, please let me know in the comments how it went for you and what were the replacements and ideas that you leveraged in order to make that happen.

Okay, so I handed in my laptop, they said maybe they were even going be able to do it tomorrow so I’ll have it tomorrow night.

I met Alex – a friend of mine who just started his own fund to invest in startups. And now I’m headed to dinner with Lukas. Lukas is the guy that challenged me to do the 2222 push-ups. Right now, my shoulder’s not really fit for another 2000 but hopefully will be soon.

I’m also getting hungry. Even though I’ve gotten mostly used to the “eat once per day” regime or routine, I still do get hungry. Now I’m looking forward to dinner and then I’m headed back to Elena’s place. Not too late tonight.

The importance of good sleep

Great dinner and now I’m getting back to Elena’s place. I just took the train to Zug and she’s picking me up here. And then we’re probably just going to enjoy a quiet evening together. I’ll probably get some sleep soon. I typically try to get as much sleep as possible. Ideally, I want to have eight hours of sleep and recently I’ve been pretty good at getting at least seven hours.

I can go with much less sleep for a few days but I realized that if I go for a week or two without at least six hours on average, I become a lot less productive and life is a lot less fun so I’m usually trying to get enough sleep. Good quality sleep where it’s uninterrupted, a dark room and kind of the same time every night. So typically, I go to bed between 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. Then I get up again sometime between 5:00 and 7:00 usually.

Experiment with polyphasic sleep

I know there are some people that bet on polyphasic sleep, meaning they nap a few times during the day – five times for thirty minutes with very little sleep during the night. Like two or three hours, then two naps during the day. I’ve never done a real experiment with that. It’d be interesting to hear if you have done one. If you have, what were your findings? It’s super interesting for me to understand.

I may have done it for like a day or two but I’ve never taken the time to really try and get into that rhythm nor have I ever met someone who constantly does well with polyphasic sleep. If that someone is you, please let me know. It’d be interesting to have you on here and talk to you about it. And with that, I’ll talk to you tomorrow!
